Interested in yoga, but not sure where to begin?
Check out this 75 minute class where together we break down poses, use repetition to gain comfort, and explore the practice of yoga in a fun and open environment! This is the kind of class where you can pause, ask in-the-moment questions, and try different pose variations in a supported way.
This class is suitable for both experienced yogis and those brand new to practicing yoga and experienced yogis looking for a gentler paced class. Wondering if yoga might be a good fit for you, or if you have particular health or mobility concerns (ie. balance, flexibility, mobility) - this class offers many options to tailor the practice to meet you where you are at right now.
All props provided. You are welcome to bring a personal yoga mat & props, if desired.
All levels are welcome in this medium-paced class.
The Ashtanga Led Half Primary follows the traditional sequence and count of the Primary Series poses and includes standing & seated postures, back bending, and full closing sequence.
Repetition is the name of the game here, so don't worry if it's your first time in this class - you'll soon fit right in! Many of the poses are held for 5+ breaths, with fluid movement transitions guided between poses.
Offering an opportunity to explore the depth of the practice using breath, postures, bandhas and drishti, this warming practice tends to increase strength, flexibility and focus. While we practice cultivating meditation in motion, you'll also find a number of tips shared along the way to keep your practice growing.

** A note for online participants **
This class often offers options using props like yoga blocks and a yoga strap. You can practice without using any props, or you can choose to use items from around your home. Some suggestions are listed here -->
Blocks: one thick book or a few books, pots, rolled towels
Strap: belt, necktie, bathrobe belt/tie, scarf, thin towel
Blanket: large towels, any blankets (used for warmth and support or cushioning in some poses)
Bolster: couch cushion, 1-2 rolled blankets or towels secured with straps/ties (that are soft and supportive, as you will be laying on this)
Eye Cover: small hand towel, facecloth, scarf
For additional support in balancing poses, you may wish to practice close to a wall or other stable surface. A chair placed on a yoga mat can also work. This also offers a place to practice seated poses if you do not wish to move to the floor.
