Shortly after turning 44, I began to experience extreme fatigue, anxiety, forgetfulness, an inability to concentrate, insomnia, and this feeling that something was just "off".
As I was working as a paramedic during the pandemic, I initially wrote these changes off to stress and the long hours I was putting in. It took some time for me to realize that what was happening could also be related to my changing hormones.
I was surprised at just how unprepared I was for peri-menopause, and how little I actually knew about what to expect!
Being a long-time yogi, I started looking for ways that my yoga practice might be more supportive at this time in my life.
That is when I came across Petra Coveney and her Menopause Yoga classes and training program. It was here that I learned not only how to put my own symptoms into context, but I also heard from other women - who like me were struggling - and appreciated having an open and supportive space to share their experiences with others.
