What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga therapy can be difficult to define. This is in part because of the breadth and depth of the tradition itself, and like Yoga, the discipline can be approached in so many different ways.

The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) defines it this way: Yoga therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga.

Yoga Therapy is a growing field of professional practice that emphasizes personalized, one-on-one therapeutic care. It’s aim is to provide holistic support for a wide variety of life’s many challenges. Sessions are done either 1:1 or in a small group setting and Yoga Therapists are required to complete 800+hrs of training.

What my clients say:

"I wanted to send a big thank you to Lorri from Inhale to Exhale; she was a life saver.

I caught COVID during the first round and ended up with multiple post-covid side effects. The medical field did not know what to do and were unable to help me. Lorri agreed to take me on as a client to fix the long-haul covid symptoms. She gave me my life back.

I had trouble regulating my heart rate and, through yoga, was able to help me retrain my parasympathetic nervous system. Through her positive teaching and support, my heart rate is back to normal, and my anxiety level reduced. I never would have been able to get back to normal without her." -- M

"Thank you so much for all of your hard work, support and outstanding yoga classes and meditations. You helped me get through some tough days." -- S.

I met Lorri through yoga and in chatting to her about my chronic sacroiliac joint pain, she offered to try to help me with yoga therapy. I had already been to a physiotherapist and chiropractor multiple times and maintained a regular yoga practice, but any progress I had was temporary. Lorri brought a unique perspective to my injury, and approached it from multiple angles. She was so easy to talk to and so supportive. It was also really helpful to have someone with a yoga background who could understand what might help or exacerbate my injury within my yoga practice. I can happily say that my back pain has significantly reduced thanks to her guidance, and would not hesitate to recommend Lorri to a friend or family member. -- K.
